SUNDAY may be Easter Sunday, but the Newcastle City Farmers and Craft Market will be open as usual.

There will be plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood, poultry and other meats, along with sourdough, pastas, pies, roasted nuts and cakes.

The Easter bunny will have already left by the time the markets open at 8.30am, but there may still be a few chocolate eggs around for the children.

When you buy your organic and biodynamic produce you can chat to the producers and farmers who are at their stall and find out the best way to prepare the food.

Besides food, there is plenty of art and craft, from hand-made wooden furniture through to children's clothing, paintings and Fairtrade products.

The market runs from 8.30am to 1.30pm at the Newcastle Showground, Broadmeadow.
